What do we know about the Aprilia 660 Tuareg so far?
A few photographs of the new Aprilia 660 Tuareg in a prototype stage and into the wild leaked a few days ago. This single fact was enough to make room for a wave of speculation about Aprilia´s new ground-breaking design. The Italian brand has already released two amazing bikes lately: the Tuono and the RS660. These are two fine specimens that keep Aprilia´s reputation up with the best in the world.
From the release of these two bikes plus the few photos of the prototype, here´s what we can say.

Aprilia 660 Tuareg Engine
The engine that the new 660Tuareg will sport will either be the same or very close to the one in the RS660 (and the Tuono). The novelty about this big motor is that it comes directly from a super sportbike, the RSV4. They adapted the engine to meet the off and on-road specifications of the different models. Furthermore, we will very likely see many modern additions like riding modes, switchable ABS brakes, all LED lights, and more.
Going back to the engine, the inline twin that could be seen in the prototype photos is very close to that of the RS660 and the Tuono. Both these bikes offer 100HP and keep the torque-weight balance at an optimum level. Indeed, the word is that the final weight of the Aprilia 660 Tuareg shall be 373 pounds. We know that any bike with these characteristics and power weighing below 400 pounds is close to a miracle.
Aprilia 660 Tuareg Suspension
From what we could observe on the leaked photographs, the company went the extra mile and redesigned the whole thing. This is to say that the 18-inch rear and the 21-inch front wheel got a completely new, revamped swingarm and inverted fork. If you ask me, my intuition tells me that it is going to be a full line of bikes dedicated to different scenarios. What do I mean by this? That they will use the Tuareg as a platform to build the perfect off-road, adventure, and street bikes. I mean, don´t get me wrong, this is by no means a revolutionary concept; other brands did it in the past with great results. Moreover, I guess that will be a strategy adopted by many motorcycle brands soon.
Aprilia 660 Tuareg Connectivity & Lights
As for what we could see in the bikes they put out in 2019 and 2020 (Tuono and RS660), the company is sparing no expense. This means that we should expect Bluetooth, a large TFT display, and even a modern app to use the motorcycle with.
All lights are believed to be LED, and the front of the bike will employ (as seen in pictures) a sole reflector-like light. This adds a modern touch with a minimalist approach.
Conclusion
The Aprilia 660 Tuareg will very likely be the Italian company´s flagship model for 2021 (even perhaps 2022). Thus, the level of secrecy and investment they are putting into it is uncanny. We are expecting a ground-breaking motorcycle line that will take from all of Aprilia´s greatness. And also, give it a futuristic twist to bring it to date. One thing is certain, though, the company is trying its hardest to turn it into a hit.
Whenever they make it available to the public, make sure you give it a test ride; it will surely blow your mind. Also, if you want to take your current ride to the next level, I highly suggest you add the Vigo Smart Track System to it.
